San Francisco Boat Works is located in Central Basin, south of both the Bay Bridge and South Beach Harbor, in the slight cove next to the large commercial ship dry docks at Pier 70 (these are the largest dry docks on the bay – you can’t miss them). Click here for our “ Interactive Map”.
-
Another landmark: we are located between the Mission Rock Restaurant on the north and The Ramp restaurant to the south.

-
The numbered docks 1-6 are ours – these docks are available to SFBW and Ramp Restaurant patrons on a first-come, first-served basis.
-
After docking, please come to the SFBW office to sign in. Please bring your access keys to the boat with you or your combination if applicable. Commercial operators should be prepared to show commercial documentation (i.e., vessel registration or Fish & Game tags).
If you are leaving your boat at our docks after normal business hours: (NOTE: the SFBW office is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., closed on major holidays)
-
Boats are left after hours at your own risk.
-
Please use caution and good seamanship while docking.
-
During northerly or northeasterly winds (blowing from the East Bay or the Bay Bridge) our docks usually experience swell and choppiness as there is no breakwater offshore.
-
We will need a signed Liability Waiver ( Click here to open and print the form) in order to haul your boat out or work on the boat for you. If we need to start the engine or move the boat we’ll need your keys or your combination; you may leave these items (labeled with your name and boat) in the mailbox slot on our office door (street side on Terry Francois Street, #835 on the ground floor) after hours. You may also e-mail or fax the Liability Waiver form to our office.
-
The gate in and out of the boat yard after hours (at the south end of the yard) leads into the Ramp Restaurant parking lot, the street gate of which is open approximately 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. each day (except possibly Christmas and New Year’s).
-
San Francisco Boat Works office and the Chandlery (parts store) are located on the north end of the boatyard (opposite end of yard from The Ramp Restaurant) at the north end of the red fence (#835 Terry Francois Street, downstairs). To get to the office after closing time of 4:00 p.m., exit the boatyard via the Ramp Restaurant gate and parking lot, outside the red fence, turn right and continue north on the sidewalk. The office mailbox is located in the office door.
